Standing Against Maternal Mental Illness “SAMMI”
Held in private meeting spaces with in public locations such as libraries, community centers and places of business that have space for attendees as well as adequate parking or access to public transportation. Meetings are open to all expectant women and mothers with infants under 2 years of age. Support groups are educational and structured yet are not group therapy sessions. The group facilitator may invite a doctor, psychologist, nurse or social worker to talk about a topic related to the groups’ needs however the primary functions are emotional support and shared experiences. Information is distributed and discussed highlighting the various forms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
What we do

The goals of these groups is for mothers to;
Feel less isolated
Gain a sense of empowerment
Improve coping skills
