What is The Seventh Mom Project, Inc.?
We are a non profit organization that provides support to mothers and families experiencing pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders. In addition to raising awareness in the community at large, we assist in educating health and social service professionals that work with families during the perinatal year, to help implement effective screening tools and develop personal care plans. We operate peer to peer support groups led by volunteer trained facilitators and are always growing our resource guide to assist professionals, our facilitators, and moms searching for postpartum resources and treatment.
When did The Seventh Mom Project, Inc. begin?
We officially founded in September of 2015.
Where is The Seventh Mom Project, Inc.?
We are based in Tampa Bay area, focusing on Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. We want to be where moms are struggling, and will not turn any mom away based on location or zip code. You can help by letting us know what resources are in your neighborhood for mental health support.
Why is it called The Seventh Mom Project, Inc.?
Postpartum Depression and Anxiety, the most common forms of PPD, are the top complications of childbirth. About 1 of every 3 new moms will suffer Postpartum Distress following birth, and more than half of all postpartum women will experience Postpartum Adjustment difficulties in baby’s first year, But 1 in 7 women suffer from postpartum depression. This project is dedicated to supporting that seventh mom as well as all moms struggling through early motherhood.
